The average human concentration span is now just 8 seconds. We might romanticise the idea of writing a book about our life, but the truth is, most won’t invest the time to read it.   The cool thing about a letter is that it is condensed into a snackable, digestible format.   We sort and sift through all your answers and ideas and with the perspective of someone who doesn’t know you, and distil your story into a two meaningful pages.  The power of this is that it can be read in one sitting, absorbed, repeated and shared.

I’m a big fan of all forms of communication and so if you want to write your own letter then more power to you.  But there are three benefits to Postscript you might want to consider if you run into problems:

  1. i) Postscript is super efficient for you.  All you need to do is complete an intentions sheet (allow 10-45 mins), then attend a 1 hour interview.  We do the rest.  As professional writers, it is our job to labour over the words and message.  Many of our clients have a high value on their time and in this way, they get to enjoy the experience and not fret over it.

  1. ii) We delete with less attachment.  When you’re sharing your own wisdom, stories and insight, there can be a temptation to share everything.  At Postscript, we come to your story with no assumed knowledge.  We are curiously exploring your life without judgement and come from the place of “what would your great great granddaughter want to know about you?”  This gives us the distance and clarity to let go of what’s not needed.

iii) And lastly, we enable perspective.  Our team are trained qualitative researchers, coaches and writers and so we’re trained to draw answers from you in a way you may have never fully articulated before.  This makes the facilitation illuminating, cathartic and fun as you’re going through it.  Most people leave with a sense of feeling lighter and more at peace as they see and feel a context to their life they may not have previously considered.

Your end:

allow 10-45 minutes for the Intentions Sheet;

1 hour for the interview.

Our end:

Beyond the preparation and interview process, the writing takes at least 5 hours.  Then we present the first draft, edit and refine.  The final document will be to you within 24 hours of the final edit.

Why do we exist?

This service is a world first.

As a coach, two of the most prevalent issues I see stem from a lack of clarity and purpose.

As a writer, I have learned the healing, illuminating power of story.  Postscript exists so that your stories and insights don’t die with you.  The process reflects and captures the essence of what you stand for, so you can track your progress over time and leave a written pathway for others to follow.

An unintended consequence of this letter is that it forces you (perhaps prematurely) to reflect on what is important to you and why, and the legacy you intend to share and leave for those you love.
